The Members House

A private club does not advertise. It receives. This page is for the secretary, the committee or the founder who needs a website that reads like an institution and still brings in the twenty right families a year the house depends on.

The pages a house needs

The House. One long page that says what this place is, when it was founded, what was built and when, and what a normal Tuesday looks like inside it. This is the page that does the persuading, and it should not mention membership once.
Membership. Categories written out honestly: full, country, overseas, junior, family, absent, corporate if you have it. What each one gives, what it restricts, and the route in. This is the page the enquirer sends to their spouse before they write to you.
The Calendar. A CMS collection, not a PDF pinned to a wall. Fixtures, ladder rounds, tournaments, dining nights, lectures, junior camps and the club closure dates. It is the single strongest proof that the house is alive.
Guests and House Rules. Dress, hours, children, telephones, cameras, guest allowance per member per month, the guest fee policy and the courts or cabanas guests may use. Written as a page, in sentences, so it can be linked to and quoted.
Sport and Facilities. Courts and surfaces, floodlights, the padel panels, the coaching team, the pool, the beach and its season, the dining room and its service hours. Specific nouns, because specificity is what a serious enquirer is reading for.
Enquiry. One page, one form, the secretary's name, the hours the office is answered, and the postal address handled with care. No live chat, no popup, no countdown, no second call to action chasing the first.

Enquiry, never sign up

The calendar, the guests, the tone

The calendar collection carries real fields, not just a date and a title: category, members only, guests permitted, dress, booking route, and a short description written for someone who has never attended. Filtering by category is what makes it usable on a phone.
Seasons are structural, not decorative. A beach club lives between two dates. A tennis and padel club runs a winter indoor programme against a summer one. The template treats the season as a switch on the calendar rather than a page somebody has to rebuild every year.
Guest rules deserve their own URL. Members forward that link constantly, and every time they do it saves the office an email and prevents a scene at the door. A rule that lives only inside a PDF is a rule nobody reads.
Reciprocal clubs, where they exist, are one of the strongest pages a house can publish. A plain list of cities and houses tells a prospective member exactly what the subscription is worth, without a single persuasive sentence.
The tone of an institution that does not need to sell comes from absence. No urgency, no limited places, no discount, no testimonial, no counter of members. Statements of fact in the present tense, and the reader draws the conclusion themselves.
Mobile is drawn separately, not squeezed. Most of these pages are read standing in a car park, in a taxi, or between two matches, and the calendar and the rules are what people open there.
